Baking Gals
I recently joined an awesome organization called Baking Gals. It all started with a woman named Susan who wrote on her blog that she was looking for volunteers to help send cookies to her cousin in the military. Within minutes, her inbox was filled with offers of help and, as they say, the rest is history. There are bloggers out there that host a round- meaning they get info out to volunteers about a particular man or woman in the military who everyone will bake for. The idea is to send them bits of home. People send baked goods, little treats, words of encouragement and thanks, etc. The idea is to let these guys and gals know that we are thankful for their service and to do something for them to send a little bit of home. I like the idea for those reasons and for the fact that it is a great way to involve my daughter as well. She made a card for our serviceman and helped with the cookies. We have had great discussions about service to others and helping out when you can. We had a great time baking pumpkin-chocolate chip cookies, packaged them with love and sent them off today.
Another round is opening soon. There is a great new website with lots of information on how to get involved. Check it out…
