So I am very excited to see the movie Coco Before Chanel . It looks amazing… lovely period costume and set design as well as some great music. And who can resist Audrey Tautou? She is absolutely adorable. If you have not seen Le fabuleux destin d’Amelie Poulain, otherwise known as Amelie in the US… then you are missing out.

The pictures are from my trip to France almost a year ago to the day. I actually would have been home just for a day last year at this time.

Just feeling a little nostalgic today. I’m starting back at school tonight and thinking of all the work ahead of me. I’m in denial and instead of finishing up the “Things to do before school” list, I’m surfing the web for and reading my favorite blogs about France. Sounds productive… no?

I’m Dreaming of….

Halloween4

halloween21

I just picked up my Halloween issues of Martha Stewart and Country Living magazines. I look forward to them every year! Sit down with a nice big cup of hot cocoa, cuddle under a blanket and watch the rain fall…

Wait a minute. It’s 80 degrees outside and will continue to be most of next week. Go away summer. You are officially over on Tuesday, did you forget? I’m ready for fall to start. I know there are those of you cursing me right now and I’m ok with it.

I guess I’ll have to turn on the fan and pour a cup of iced tea and enjoy instead. It won’t be the same though…

Come on Autumn… I’m looking forward to spending some time with you!

Why I love Alltop

berriessm First things first… I just have to post a picture of my holly bush. This thing has been in my backyard for at least 3 or 4 years and not once has produced berries.  Well, looky here… I have berries!! No idea why I have them, but I do. I hope they last until the holiday season. Every choice of what to plant in the backyard has been driven by it’s potential to become holiday decor at some point.  Woo hoo… bring on the fall weather and let’s get decorating!

Some other little things to pass along today.  I don’t know how many of you know about Alltop.com?It’s a news aggregator of sorts. It has a whole bunch of feeds that it groups together from different sources on any topic you can think of. What I love about using it vs. using just a regular google search, is that I can type in a topic and then it will list the top news sources on the web covering your topic and that source’s last 5 headlines that source has for a particular topic. So for instance, tonight I typed in “Antiques” and it brought up 20-30 sources of info on Antiques and the top 5 headlines for each source. It’s all arranged on a page or two for you to quickly peruse what they are writing about to see if you are interested in going to that source. They cover websites and blogs and have a good mix of sources. I always find a new favorite blog or website that I have never seen before. The other great thing about Alltop is that you can then also add that feed to your own Alltop page so when you log in, you can go to your page and have all the sources you want to follow in one place and can quickly scan them all at once to see where you want to go to read something. You don’t have to go to each page separately to view it. It’s similar to other blog compilations sites out there, but I think it is better orgainzed and easier to use. If you have a blog of your own or one that you follow and is not listed on Alltop, you can make suggestions to the team to have it added. They are continually updating their sources. I have found it very useful and really fun to find new sources for information out there.

A few quick notes about my new website. I have comments on moderation as I get this going and see how it all works. It’s set up so that I moderate your first comment and then, once approved, you won’t have your comments moderated any more. Just know you won’t see your first comment appear automatically.  The “Asides” category are just little notes, not regular blog posts. The “Survey Says” section shows recent comments and discussions. The section on the left that says “Breaking News” isn’t really news to anyone… it’s just my social profiles updating how I’m wasting my time. It shows my Tweets on Twitter, what I watch on Hulu, what I listen to on Blip Fm.  I find some cool music though on Blip FM. You might want to pay attention to that.?. :)

Tonight, with my Alltop search for antiques, I found a really cute blog called Fresh Vintage that looks like a great resource. Lots of good ideas, pretty pictures and lots of tutorials on different things to make or do with your vintage finds. Check it out…

Coming Soon…

My online stores will be up and running soon. Keep an eye out on the left sidebar for more info.

Gorgeous Walk

rosehipssm I went for a lovely walk along the Snohomish River Trail today. Plenty of signs that fall is on the way. I love that all of the berries are out, leaves are changing colors, the light is changing. It’s really the most beautiful time of year and my most favorite season. It’s a great time for picture taking. The best time of day for pictures is either first thing in the morning or near sunset. It isn’t always convenient, but if you can get out at that time, you will be pleased with the light you find. It really enhances your subject matter. Makes it more soft than the harsher, afternoon light.

What are you looking forward to this fall…?

Welcome

candlessm Nice to see you again! Welcome to those heading over form Myriad and to new readers as well. I feel the time has come to start on a new path. Why High-Res Life you ask? Well, it works for me on so many levels. My life is taking a new direction, with more clarity and focus and creativity… I have an emerging career working in graphic and web design as well as photography and other high-resolution areas.  Get it…? Oh, I’m so clever.

What can you expect to find here? I hope to share with you all of the creativity and ideas I have knocking around in my head… things that inspire me in my daily life and I hope will inspire you. You’ll see tutorials and tips on things such as photography and digital arts, or maybe you’ll find a great recipe that I have tried… learn how to make some new craft… find travel tips… or links to what I find fun and inspiring on the web… an occasional story or two about living with a 6 year old… or maybe just some pretty pictures. I love to learn new things and to share what I know. I hope this can become a place of community and sharing of creative ideas. So don’t be afraid to comment or ask questions. Let me know if there is something you would like to learn.

One thing is for sure, there will always be something new here. I am always learning or exploring something new. I’m a vagabond and gypsy at heart and love to wander…and let my mind wander. I get excited by and inspired by new ideas. To me, it’s what life is all about.

So thanks for stopping by. Please come back again soon. The door is always open.
